HFKI Association

I developed a robust, feature-rich custom WordPress plugin for the HFKI Association to streamline the management of organizational content, including news, events, and homepage media. This long-term engagement, which lasted over six months, required continuous development and agile integration of new features based on evolving client demands. My primary responsibility was to deliver a highly functional, maintainable, and administrator-friendly solution deeply integrated with the existing WordPress framework.

Interactive Front-End Content & Event Display

The front-end design focused on dynamic visual engagement and seamless user interaction to promote organizational activities:

News & Directory Features: Beyond events, the plugin included robust modules for managing and displaying news articles. Furthermore, I implemented a dedicated Company Searching directory feature, enabling users to easily query and locate relevant member information, enhancing the utility of the site as an organizational resource hub.

Dynamic Homepage Presentation: I implemented both an image slider and rotating banners that were fully manageable from the back-end. This provided administrators with direct control over the primary visual real estate of the website, ensuring key announcements and promotions were highly visible.

Integrated Event Calendar: I successfully integrated and customized the jQuery Event Management Calendar plugin to manage and display all upcoming events directly on the homepage . This integration provided users with a familiar and intuitive way to browse and track the association’s activities.

Backend Architecture and Feature Enhancement Cycle

The back-end was built using native WordPress principles (Actions, Filters, and Custom Post Types) to ensure high performance and maintainability:

1. Banner Management: The admin interface includes a dedicated section for managing the rotating banners and sliders, allowing staff to upload, link, and control the display order of homepage visuals .
2. Modular Development: The extended project duration (6+ months) was characterized by a phased development approach, where new feature enhancements were integrated continuously. This experience demonstrates my capability to work responsively, deliver iterative improvements, and maintain code quality in a long-term development environment.
